There is a "HUGE Multiple Blog Design Giveaway" going on over at April Showers Blog Design.

NINE Designers are hosting a giveaway for blog designs! I am entering the giveaway and as part of the requirement, you must post a blog entry. So, I want to let all my wonderful readers know about this as well!

The giveaway is going on until February 25th, so get your entries in quickly ladies and gentlemen!

Here is the fine print as well:
Fine Print: Nine winners will be chosen at random on Friday 2/25/2011 at 12pm MT.  These winners will be notified via e-mail shortly after on that day.  Winners who did not provide an e-mail or have their e-mail linked to their name in their comment will be disqualified.  Designers reserve the right to put the winner on their waiting list.  April Showers is not the liaison between winner and designer, and any unclaimed prizes or undelivered designs are the sole responsibilities of the designers and winners.  Designers may not design for your platform, in which case you may choose to give the design away on your own blog, or ask for installation pricing from April Showers.

Improv Comedy Clubs

Share
”improv,

My husband and I love a night out at the Improv. We have seen some great comics, including surprise visits from Jimmy Fallon of Late Night and Greg Behrendt, the author of He's Just Not That Into You (both the book and movie) and writer of Sex and the City.
”improv,
However, there is a great benefit to signing up for your local Improv. Make an account and sign up for the emails. You will receive emails very frequently with FREE tickets to see the comics that you are interested in seeing. Seriously, they give out 2-4 packs of tickets on a regular basis. And these are for the great comics , not shows no one wants to see. You just pay $3.50 for a "handling fee" and you are set with your tickets. I'm not sure how all of the ticketing works, if it is will-call or you print your tickets, but it is a very simple process upon checkout.
Once you sign up for the Improv emails, you start receiving emails with Free ticket notifications. They state the day and time, and usually the email comes out 1-4 days in advance of the show. If they are a more well-known comic, I've noticed its usually the day before, but lesser known comics sometimes come out a few days in advance. The email states the offer is only good for the first 50 that respond to the offer. A few years ago, I used to worry and purchase my tickets upon receiving the email because I was worried it would sell out so quickly. Now I know they don't sell out so quick so I can wait hours at least to purchase, maybe even a day depending.
I will disclose that my local Improv states in the free ticket email that you need to purchase a 2-drink minimum. However, my hubby and I have gone and they have been understanding when we didn't feel like drinking that evening and purchased an appetizer or entree instead.
This is such a great deal, they even sent out an email for free tickets for friday or sunday evening of Valentine's Day Weekend. That totally shocked me, because all the local restaurants were doubling their prices for the entire weekend!
I hope there is an Improv near where you live. If not, I suggest looking into another comedy club. I did a quick google search and found tons of other comedy clubs. I would bet the other ones have a similar type of marketing strategy, although the Improv is my favorite one to frequent....

Fresh Produce Anytime of the Year

I am all about eating fresh and healthy foods. I absolutely love different types of vegetables and fruits. There is something about the crunch of a delicious organic carrot with some hummus that is so good. Homemade hummus, especially.

I came across this great website recently that I just had to share with all of you. Its called Simple Steps: For Better Health and Sustainable Living and is sponsored by the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council).

One of the best features on this website is you can check out the state you live in and see what produce is in season during each month. It even breaks it down into the early and late part of the month. How cool is that?! If you live in California, click here.  If you live in another state change the bold word, california to the state you live in and copy it to your browser: http://www.simplesteps.org/eat-local/state/california
”california

After you search and find the wonderful produce that is in season, you just click on the map of your state, and enter in the local information for where you live. This will guide you through finding great local farmer's markets in your area. It had some others in my area that I had never heard of, so I would recommend giving a call to make sure the information is still current before you take a drive down to pick up some great produce. Plus, you never know what other great things you may find at the farmer's market. Ours always sell some yummy kettle corn that we have to stay far, far away from. That and some yummy gouda cheese.

Have fun exploring this fun website. I'm sure you will come across some great new information.

What is your favorite treat at the farmer's market?
Mine is heirloom tomatoes.
