If you've been following me here on Becca's Perspective, you'd remember that Kona's Chips so graciously offered a prize pack to a winner for the March Madness giveaway hop earlier this month. If you've also been following me on Facebook, you might have seen the photo album featuring three products from Kona's Chips that I had the opportunity to review. Well, technically, Bentley and Bella had the chance to review. As I mentioned in my previous post about Kona's Chips, Bentley has a sensitive tummy, as most high-maintenance Yorkie's do. (As Yorkie owners, we can call them high-maintenance, but only us!) When I came across Kona's Chips I knew we would be hooked because these were such high quality dog treats. My husband and I really care about what we put into our bodies and avoid chemicals, pre-packaged foods, preservatives, and food dyes. Now why wouldn't we want to do this for our pups, too?
Kona's Chips was started when owners Tom and Cynthia fed their dog his favorite Chicken Jerky treat made in China and he got very sick. Thank goodness Kona survived, and Tom and Cynthia took matters into their own hand and started Kona's Chips to create healthy and safe products for our dogs. The products made and sold by Kona's Chips are all 100% Made in the USA. No more need to worry about what is put in the treats and how they will harm our other members of the family.
Chicken Jerky is made from 100% USDA boneless skinless chicken breasts from a major California poultry supplier. After the chicken is sliced and dehydrated, the fat is hand-trimmed. Only 2% of fat remains which is excellent for a low fat diet (especially those yorkies with sensitive tummies!) There are no added chemicals or preservatives which makes this a very healthy product for your pet.
I received the package from Kona's Chips and immediately I had two pups who were much more curious than usual. The box was still brown, but Bentley and Bella just knew that this box was for them. These treats are such high quality that they require refrigeration, so I put the treats in the fridge until I could get a chance to take the pups outside for a photo shoot with our three bags of treats (Chicken Jerky, Chicken Krispies, and Liver Licks). I'm thinking the real reason we need to refrigerate the treats is so the dogs don't find the bags and get into them while we aren't home. I'm just glad my dog's don't know how to open the refrigerator. Imagine if we had a Great Dane! That dog would be in the fridge so quickly!
Bentley, Bella and I went outside with our Kona's Chips Chicken Jerky, Chicken Krispies, and Liver Licks. I let the dogs sniff the bags for a minute, but they were so ready to get to those treats. I took a few of each treats and spread them out, and the dogs couldn't get enough of these treats. Bentley is our little "chubs" as well call him, although he's a very lean and fit 4.8lbs. Bella is the even more fit one as an 18lb Miniature Schnauzer, although don't tell her I told you her weight, and she's not usually crazy about dog treats but these were a delicacy for her and she was more of the trouble maker as you will see!
After the pups ate their treat, they kept search and trying to find more. Bella even got smart and opened the bag! Here she is enjoying the treat she snuck. She's even acting like I couldn't see her.
Bentley really enjoyed these treats... so much so that he left a little for later and wanted to get that piece of Chicken Jerky he left in his beard.
"Please, Mom. Can I just have one more? I know this sad puppy dog face will work on you," Bentley thought.
"I'll get us one more. Just promise you will share with me," said Bella.
